Peace

Peace

Nic Horgan

Peace

What does it mean to me

No violence, No wars

None of those metal rod like killing machines

Those ticking people either

Peace

We are all together like a band of brothers

Calm like the guy up top who made us

We can be together

These bonds we can tether

We can unite

We can no longer fight

This is what peace means to me

What does it mean to you

Raindrops

Each one falling to their fate
Raindrops drop rising with a glisten
Holding the the shine of
The eyes of innocent children

Bombs drop
People go
With every raindrop comes a cry or blow
The shine of them against the window
Speak to me as wise men would
They tell me to make peace
If I could

Sunny days is the goal
Some fall to nourish new life
Some fall to hit pavement
Joining the puddle of sorrow

More rain drops to come not go
As they fall so slowly
I hear the cries from all there homes
Each one screaming out one word
Peace peace
To come not to go

Shout It Out

Shout it Out

Its booming sound waves like a tsunami through the smoggy air
The bright yellow fire lighting up the sweltering night air.
The yells are heard
The lives are lost
People morn over the loss
They want their voices to be heard
Shout it out

The trucks pulling up
Doors slam
Doors are broken open
Guns are shoved to innocent heads
Give me all your money
The push is stressful, and disappointing
Pockets are emptied
Wealth is strewn down the drain with all the bodies
Shout it out

I am sitting at my house
Playing on my nice new computer
I’m thinking about what new celebrity is dating who
Silence is outside in the crisp air
I stumble upon a site that is titles peace
Underneath it says where is it
My heart sinks
Shout it out

Where is the love
Where is the Peace
Where is the freedom of speech
Where is the ability to leave
SHOUT IT OUT!

A Bird

A Bird

It swoops,

through the trees.

Its feathers,

dancing in the wind.

So graceful,

the elegant pirouettes.

At peace,

or so it seems.

The never ending battle,

for food and survival.

How the peace of the external,

clashes with the truth of the internal.

When will our greed disappear,

so we can hear the song?

The Blanket

Peace is like the blanket covering the world
What protects us and gives us hope
Floating over children’s heads
Invisible as air, but calming

Peace could be anything
A friendship that’s so strong
it will never be torn
or just a simple smile
that makes the blanket grow

Sometimes the blanket rips
And a feeling of hate surrounds us
We lose our calmness and become selfish
We fight only for what we believe in

The time we need our blanket most
It is gone from above
Nothing familiar to keep us alive
This is the time when you can cry
Like a two year old child

This blanket takes a long time to sew
But it wears easily
So be careful with this blanket
It is what keeps us safe

Peace isn’t always there
But is always being repaired
The invisible blanket
In the clear night sky

Everyone Else

The ants saunter by
In a uniformed line
Working in unison to feed their colony
There is no prejudice
There is no hatred
They all work in peace

An arrow of geese slices the air
They stay close for protection
They are on the same mission
They fly in formation as one

A pack of wolves scamper through the woods
On their way to a lone deer
They move as one unit
One brain shared among them
There are no questions
And no complaints

Bullets splinter the air
Bodies are strewn across the barren ground
The peace is gone
War has settled among us
We don’t agree
They don’t want help
Nobody listens
Nobody survives

It does not have to be like this
We can all read the same book,
Sing the same song,
And the share the same dream
Arguments can be resolved without war
But getting to that place takes work

That place has a name
The place where all become one,
And one become all.
It is called the future.

Reach Out

In a world where death isn't caused by another mans hand.
Where guns are words.
Fighters fighting kill people everyday
War starts in one place, and jumps to the next.
Peace isn't only no war.
Its place where you can relax and think about happy things.
When you lie in bed after work everyday,
You can think about the past, future, or present.
When the everything is over,
wether its a war or a fight,
you can reach out again.
brushing what is the peace that is there.
The silence and the stillness of the air around you.
Because all fights and wars are over you can reach out
and embrace the new, toss the old, and create the future.

Peace is a Wave

Peace can fight for you

You can fight for peace

Peace is like a wave of calm

Riding through your mind

Different people want it

Everyone needs it

Peace can wander for years

Never find a safe place to be

It cannot be seen

It cannot be stopped

It is in everyone

Though no one knows

It comes to strike

On those who hate

It comes to love

On those who care

Peace is a wave

You can’t stop it

Bombs explode

People die

Peace implodes

People cry

Peace comes out strong in the end

Peace is Unknown

Peace is Unknown

Peace,

The structure of planet Earth,

The fine line between life and death.

It can be found in the most peculiar places.

Below the deep, bellowing waves of the Atlantic,

Or resting within the gusts of wind, which encircle the Earth.

From the sapphire blue depths of the great unknown,

To the pearl white clouds, as if a bowl of mashed potatoes.

Dancing in the wind, Like human figurines.

Yet when you or I come around,

they seem to stand as still as trees.

Peace can be found in the most peculiar places,

Yet before you no it,

Your wound up in a non-peaceful state,

Yet you cannot rap your head around it.

For peace is unknown.

Within the heart and souls of everything.

Peace.

Peace Poem

PEACE

Peace comes in many different shapes and forms

A hot, steamy shower after a long day

The feeling after you have worked like a farm horse at a basketball practice

When you’re done with all your homework and can just sit back and relax

Peace is when the guns lay themselves down and stop shooting

Relaxing, reading, rejoicing, running, running

Fields stretch out for miles and miles I am alone running, running

I lay down in the sweet sugar cane that surrounds me

And fall into a peaceful sleep

Finally, nothing can touch me now

I wake up and it begins again seeking, looking

Sometimes finding, sometimes not

The endless fight for peace

Just stop fighting and you’ll find it

But we like to fight so we never will

It runs away from us like a naughty puppy the first time you let it off its leash

You never can find it though unless you let go of all the hate and anger and just live

Peace can make a difference

Peace is simple but not easy

Peace makes everyone feel better and wanted

Peace is children playing without a care in the world

Peace is no wars guns or battle

With no one missing home and no one feeling alone

Peace is happiness, loving, family, and being with your friends

People can make a difference but barely ever do

The world is not a peaceful place most of the time

There is war and violence and racism and hate

We can do small thing to help it but it will be hard to get rid of it forever

Peace is a group of people near a fire talking to each other.

Peace is not far away
